Whimsy Wednesday! Comet Over and See Me Sometime!

Hello Everyone!
Welcome to Whimsy Wednesday!
I hope the short vacation we had from each other was grand!
I used some of the Holiday time to go on Walkabout and find interesting things (as you saw from last Friday's post).
Let me show you a little of what else was found and what has grown out of those 'raw materials'!
Octopus!
This is a very grand (and adorable!) inflatable octopus!
I think we can see why he had to come home with me(and why he's featured on a Whimsy Wednesday post!)!
I think he'll make a fabulous addition to any pool party!
Other ideas are to keep him inflated and perched somewhere around the house! Stay tuned to see where he might hang out between pool parties!
Next up!
Glow in the Dark Earrings!
Title: As Yet Unknown
Ingredients: Czech glass, anodized aluminum, Glow in the Dark plastic, metal, surgical steel earwires (hypo-allergenic & silver-plated).
I wanted to play with the galaxy of shapes in a first-time project that wasn't a big commitment.
And so, this earring creation was born!
What went into the creating of these earrings, you ask? Well!
I've filed and softened the edges of the plastic comet and shooting star.
A wonderfully colourful batch of jumprings suspending those shapes from hypo-allergenic earwires!
And the entire set accented with matching, celestial blue, iridescent stars!
These are definitely for those with out-of-this-world personalities!
Look for these in my Etsy shoppe soon!
And there you have it!
Another Whimsy Wednesday post finished with giggles!
Thank you for stopping by!
I'll see you on Friday!
Ciao!

Fini Friday! Progress, Part Deux!

Hello Everyone!
Welcome to Fini Friday!
My week has been full of unexpected blessings and today is (happily) no different! I hope the same can be said for you!!
I've shinies and progress to share, so let's get started!
First, the progress!
You might remember this Fini Friday, where I showed you the stages of resin on the faux British bank notes.
They are finished and ready to be used in a creation! Take a look!
This photo is full of beginnings and progress! See the balloons?
Their first sides are painted with resin and the second side awaits!

Onward to the shiny, shiny loot!
I found these today on Walkabout and had to bring them home!
It was the pale sapphire blue vintage glass jewels that I fell in love with!
The moon is actually a glow-in-the-dark material, meant to be positioned on an inside room wall or ceiling. I'm not certain yet if I'll use them in that manner or invent a new use!
Stay tuned for that!

And a last photo of the 'new' loot!
The shooting star is another glow-in-the-dark celestial body that I'm intrigued to play with!
However, the chain draped around it is what really caught my eye! I've yet to see a chain quite like this one and fell in love with the texture, colour and possibilities!
YAY!

So there you have it!
The fini of another Fini Friday!
Have ideas or suggestions on what you would see these raw materials turn into? Leave a comment!
I love spreading the creativity!
See you on Wednesday!
Ciao!

Whimsy Wednesday! Postcards From the Studio...

Hello Everyone!
Welcome to Whimsy Wednesday!
This post is a slight interruption of the norm as I've decided to show you whimsical things from the past weekend and ideas still growing!

This is a photo of me at the Spring Psychic Faire this past weekend!  I've my cards and chocolates all ready for the readings!  My spot for the day was in the Sanctuary and so I was surrounded by stained glass, graceful, tall ceilings, and lovely soft lighting!  Beautiful!
My vision for this booth is the same as my booth at Art Shows.  I want folks to feel as if they are stepping into a Faerie Glen!  I love the star and moon sarong and use that as a table covering over navy blue velvet!  A table that is comfortable both to sit at and touch is a plus in my book!  You'll see greenery and little fairy lights peeking out here and there on my table to complete the vision!

This next idea is in the growing stages!  I procured some gaming dice and have had so much fun thinking of ways to create jewellry with them(preferably still removable and functional)!  One of many experiments I'm involved with, with them, is using filigree to contain them!
Here are the first stages of growth!
Who knows where this will go from here?!!!

So there you have it!
The conclusion of this Whimsy Wednesday!
Stay tuned to see what grows up by Fini Friday!
Ciao!

Fini Friday! Be the Light!

Hello Hello!
Welcome to Fini Friday and the end of most folks' work week!
I've the creative path from raw materials to completion to show you today!
First, some of the materials!
I found these materials in the form of a necklace/badge holder when I was on Walkabout a while back.  They definitely have a Winter Holiday theme to them!
The colours and the well-made glass "lights" were what fascinated me the most.  I wanted to create several things that might or might now match the original Winter Celebration theme.
Let me show you the first one to grow up!

Title: Be the Light
Ingredients: Swarovski crystals, glass, metal, surgical steel earwires (silver-plated and hypoallergenic).
My vision for this creation was something like a candle, a lantern or luminous device...perhaps from a distant Fae land!
I'm so pleased with how they grew into completion!
Stay tuned to see what the rest of the light beads are woven into!
WHHHEEEEEEEE!!!
So!
What am I up to this weekend and coming week?

Whimsy Wednesday! Starry-Eyed!

Hello Hello!
Welcome to this Whimsy Wednesday!
I hope the weather in your neck of the woods is just as beautiful as ours!!!
This post is all about star-filled creations!
Let me show you!
Title: Starry-Eyed
Ingredients: Czech glass, Artistic wire, metal, surgical steel earwires(silver-plated, hypo-allergenic).
I love mixing copper and cobalt blue, as these earrings clearly demonstrate!  Both colours have an ancient vibrancy that fascinates and almost never more than when they compliment each other in a creation!
YAY!

Next up!
Title: Moonlight In the Forest
Ingredients: Swarovski crystals, Czech glass, Artistic wire, metal, surgical steel earwires(silver-plated, hypo-allergenic).
These are the more lush of the two creations and feature a crescent moon and lots of stars on a smoky background!  The Swarovski crystals are the colour Vitriol.  The dusky flashes of metallic colour are hard to capture with a camera!  The silvery leaves echo the moonlight-colour of the earwires, just as moonlight weaves it's way inexplicably through all things!
Look for these earring creations in my Etsy shoppe soon!
Onward to the upcoming events!!!

Saturday, May 18th only!
Many of you have seen me at this Faire offering my Sprite Creations jewellery and creations.

Magical Monday! Tricks of the Light!

Hello Everyone!
Welcome to Magical Monday!
I hope your weekend was chock-full of fun!
I have all sorts of colourful nifties to share with you today that play with the light!
Let's start with the inside of a building first!
Credits and details are here Isn't that just gorgeous!!!
I think I could pull up a chair and watch the colours change as the sunlight moves across the room all day!!

Let's move outside and into the public space now, to a Water Tower converted into public art!
I love the idea that something mundane and unusually so visually unappealing could become a source of price and colour to an entire community! Details and credits are here.

As we near the end of this post, we move out into the world, once beach at a time!
Isn't that just awesome, vibrant and fun!?
Credits and details are here!
It seems some research is in order to find out where to procure such a beauty!
Whee!!

So! Let me mention a few upcoming events!!!

Fini Friday! Progress!

Hello Everyone!
Welcome to Fini Friday and the end of many folks' work week!
In true Fini Friday style, this post is chock-full of creations in various stages of growing!
Come walk with me and I'll show you!
I've been playing with resin with different projects and so the next steps of growth are unfolding!
On our first path, we are witness both a re-acquaintance and rebirth! You might remember this post where materials gathered on Walkabout were shown.
I've brushed resin on the first side of those faux bank notes (among other things) and here are the results!
The resin is hand-coloured with pigment and settled very nicely over the paper! The next steps are to encase the other side with resin, then pierce the paper for hanging!
Stay tuned for that!

Whilst we're on the path of progressing to the next growth step, here are a few more creations that received a bit of resin this week!
I found this distinctive necklace on Walkabout and wanted to add a Faerie touch to it!
The pendant in the center is a paper illustration of inner watch workings secured to a wood back that I've wrapped in brass filigree.
It is my hope that the resin will not only add beauty, yet also durability to this pendant-creation!

As we near the end of this Fini Friday path, we're going to take a slight jog over to a creation that is beginning to grow...with a button that was brushed with golden-coloured resin a little while ago!
I absolutely love that the Pegasus is a button!
The suede cord, fiber and feather pendant are all materials I'm toying with weaving into this creation! As always, you are welcome to share your thoughts, dear audience, with me in the comments section!

So! At the end of this Fini Friday path, let me mention a few upcoming events!!!

Saturday, May 18th only!

Whimsy Wednesday! Legends!

Hello Everyone!
Welcome to Whimsy Wednesday!
I hope your week has been fabulous so far!
This post is all about Legends and I'm excited to show you what is ahead!
Title: Grounding Tiger Spirit
Ingredients: Hematite, Fimo Tigers, Czech glass, metal, silver-plated surgical steel earwires.
Hematite is a natural stone that is thought to offer protection and grounding to the wearer as well as helping with focus and concentration.
Tigers are legend all their own! They, too, are often seen as protectors and royalty (Buddhist Saints have been known to ride tigers).
I chose the glass beads to bring out the colour of each Tiger's eyes. This also gives an eerie and ethereal quality to otherwise very concrete and solid materials.

The second creation I have to share is...
Working Title: Raven Royalty or Morgan LeFaye
Ingredients: Czech glass, metal, silver-plated surgical steel earwires.
Morgan LeFay has long been associated with Morrigan, Ravens, the battlefield, death, rebirth, lust and so forth. You can read more about the legends here.
I've had these glass beads in my collection for a long time now and this designed fell into place. I love the progression from the ethereal 'true red', chased with gold to the darker crimson and fluttering feathers!
There is a bit of th 1920's flapper in those dangling feathers...an inspiration of which I think Ms. LeFaye would approve!

Where is the whimsy in these two creations, you ask?
Surely a purple tiger is made of whimsy!
As to our ravens and fay? Whimsy comes in all colours - from grand and charming to thoughtful and ebon!
So! There you have it!
The fini of this Whimsy Wednesday!
See you Friday!
Ciao!

Hello Everyone!
Welcome to Magical Monday!!!
I hope your weekend was fabulous!
Mine was!
I've many examples of Art in the Mundane World for you today!
Let's start with "dirt art" - art drawn in the dirt on cars... Details and credits are here
Who wouldn't love to this this as they are traveling through life?
More of this - Yes! Please!

This next art bit is a fabulous rendition of a Dalek and a smart discount strategy!
 Details and credits are here
I would hang around that establishment as much as possible in hopes of seeing a real, working Tardis!
Whee!!!

Let's finish this post with a wonderful tapestry of natural and man-made art!
Credits and details are here
Isn't that wonderful?!
So that's it for Magical Monday!

Whimsy Wednesday! Sharing and an Experiment!

Hello Hello!
Welcome to Whimsy Wednesday!
I hope your week has been grand so far!
I've been experimenting with wire and beads today, among other things, so I'll start this post with that!
Working Title: Summer Jewels
Ingredients: Czech glass, vintage acrylic, Artistic wire.
I love the opportunity to play free-form with wire and this idea popped to mind a few weeks ago... the mixing of the greens. This is a bit of a mono-chromatic palette for me, yet I think it grew into beautiful completion!
Next up is a very sweet creation that grew out of a pendant I found on Walkabout. Details are here!
Title: Sharing
Ingredients: Czech glass, vintage acrylic, hand-wrapped "yarn" wire ball, metal.
I created the wire "yarn" ball by wrapping scrap portions of wire into a ball and suspending it from a matching wire from the silvery chain. This creation is really all about that precious kitten pendant!
I included things kitten-friends would share...such as admiring a butterfly, a ball of yarn and perhaps a lunch of fish! The heart-shaped clasp is the final endearing touch on this simply charming creation!
This will be up in my Etsy shoppe by the end of this evening!
And that's a wrap for this Whimsy Wednesday!
Have a comfy rest of the week and I'll see you on Friday!
Ciao!
